You are as old as your spine :-)! If you find yourself consistently in a seated position for a majority of the day, it is important to make sure that you can move your spine into extension in order to keep range of motion through your lumbar spine. Sitting can lead to a loss of lordotic curvature in your lower back due to the consistent flexion that occurs with prolonged sitting. Keeping the curvature and the ability to extend through your lumbar spine(low back) can help prevent low back pain issues along with treating issues like bulging disc/slipped disc/herniations. The McKenzie press up can be scaled to have an impact along each vertebra along the lumbar spine depending on the hand placement used. The video will go into detail so that you can learn to do it safely and start helping yourself gently move into extension :-). This exercise is gentle enough to do on a daily, and is a must do for most individuals who sit for a majority of their day.
